MIHS Track & Field 2025 Season in Review

The 2025 Mercer Island High School track and field season was a shining example of what can happen when hard work, unity, and determination come together. From early spring practices in the rain to the final state championship meet, the team showed up with focus, resilience, and heart. The girls’ team made history by capturing the state title; an achievement that hadn’t been seen in nearly five decades. It was a true team effort, with points coming from across the board: sprints, distance, relays, hurdles, jumps, and throws. Whether setting personal bests or stepping up to fill in for a teammate, every athlete played a role in the team’s success, and that collective strength pushed the Islanders to the top.

The boys’ team also put together an incredible season, marked by steady improvement, strong leadership, and standout performances when it mattered most. Big points at the state meet came from a mix of experienced seniors and emerging talent, with several athletes breaking school and meet records. The team’s growth throughout the season was evident in every event group, and their commitment to one another was just as powerful as any medal or finish time. Special moments came not only in championship races, but also in everyday practices, shared bus rides, and cheering each other on from the sidelines. For parents, coaches, and teammates alike, this season was more than just a collection of wins, it was a celebration of community, perseverance, and Islander pride.

To celebrate and remember this incredible season, we’ve put together a gallery of selected images that capture some of the most meaningful moments from the track, big races, quiet victories, team huddles, and the smiles that came with personal bests. These photos reflect the spirit, effort, and camaraderie that defined the 2025 season, and we hope they bring back the pride and joy that came with being part of the Mercer Island track and field family. The Booster Club would like to thank Scott Knoblich, our official team photographer, for his dedication and artistic eye. The photos below are just a small sample.
